PietrasantArt: : How did you meet?
Patrick & Esther: Both of us studied at the Academy of Belle Arti in Carrara where we met in 1985.
PietrasantArt: How did you know about Pietrasanta?
Patrick & Esther: Thanks to our friend the sculptor Gonzalo Fonseca, who has been giving us hospitality for many years in his house nearby Pietrasanta. Besides we liked the idea of having both marble workshops and artistic foundries at our full disposal, that is to say the ideal environment for a sculptor..
PietrasantArt: What is the tie which binds you to Pietrasanta?
Patrick & Esther: By now we feel more at home here in Pietrasanta than in our respective home countries, Switzerland and Germany. Above all the presence of the sea has been crucial in our choice of settling down in this area.
PietrasantArt: What are your running projects?
Patrick & Esther: We are making several works of various sizes for public spaces in some German towns. Besides we are organizing some summer exhibitions: one in the sculpture park "Il Giardino di Daniele Spoerri" in the small town of Seggiano near Grosseto, the other one in the Costanza lake region in Germany. Our new catalogue is shortly coming out.
PietrasantArt: I see Ester is pregnant: what are your plans for the future?
Patrick & Esther: As far as Italy is concerned we think we shall try to establish new relationships with some art galleries in Milan, since once the baby is born we think we shall settle down in Italy once and for all. In the past we used to work only in Germany and in Switzerland . Now we are having an interesting connection in the USA which we shall take into consideration later on. We are going to concentrate above all, on public work orders that we like very much and that keep on giving us much pleasure.
